FINAL FANTASY III BLIND MICE

This was my final project for “Real Time Modeling” at UCF in Fall of 2004, and also my first 3D animation. The basis for the project was that each group was given a nursery rhyme to reenact in a short animation. Any and all embellishments or creative twists were welcome, so long as it conformed to the core elements of the original story.

What started as a quirky idea of mine rapidly exploded into a massive parody. Our group was given, as the title suggests, “Three Blind Mice.” I thought, “wouldn’t it be cute if the mice had the ‘darkness’ status ailment from Final Fantasy over their heads?” Without saying too much, I will simply say the ideas exploded from there. Good thing my group members were also FF fans.

Our animation turned out to be the best in the class, as I made it a point to go well above and beyond what our initial expectations were. We were not taught anything of texturing or animation (simply object movement), so while a random viewer might see this as ‘incomplete,’ please understand this was far above what we had learned to do at this point. But for any future projects of mine, I will be expecting a whole lot more from myself.
